Our Story

Carlton Canine Grooming was founded in 2016 by Alex. He worked as a solo groomer for 4 years before taking on Emma due to being so busy and needing to expand. He built a reputation locally for producing high standard grooms and offering excellent customer service.

He was nervous about brining on a new groomer but knew he had found a fellow true dog lover when he employed Emma. She brings over 15 years of experience having trained other groomers as well as managing her own busy salon in Cambridge for 5 years.

They moved to their new premises in 2021 and continued to offer the same level of service to all their clients.

Unfortunately Alex suffered a rotator cuff injury in 2022 that forced him to retire from grooming after 18 months worth of failed treatments and seeing numerous specialists.

Thankfully Emma was able to step in and Alex leaves the day to day work to her as she is a fantastic groomer and dog person.

Alex and his husband now focus on their dog breeding programme and are one of the countries leading breeders of autism assistance dogs.

Emma holds numerous Dogg rooming qualifications and has actually trained many other groomers including groomers which now groom competitively in national competitions.
